JM Burns Construction was founded in 2021 by Justin Burns. We specialize in the residential construction of new homes, serving the Salida, Poncha Springs, Nathrop, and Buena Vista areas of the Arkansas Valley.
We pride ourselves in producing top-quality homes, without compromise.
Our Mission
We utilize the latest and best methods of practice with leading tradespeople in our area and employ proven ISO and value engineering principles.
The high costs of building in our area are often inflated because of intense demand and a limited supply of available contractors.
Through our extensive experience in Chaffee County and larger markets, we have determined the best methods for building homes that not only live well but provide instant equity for our homeowners. We are confident that we deliver the best homes for our clients’ money, whether it be a large custom or a multi-family project.

Get to Know the Amazing Team Leading JM Burns Construction
Justin Burns
Justin comes from an extensive background in construction. He graduated from East Carolina University with a construction management degree and worked as a laborer and carpenter through college. His professional career began in Raleigh, NC with 5 years at the nation’s largest home builder (Pulte Homes), where he gained experience in value engineering and design principles.
Later, he was offered a position with a supplier that he worked closely with for years, Builders First Source. He assumed the role of Millwork Installation Manager for the Raleigh market until moving to Salida, CO in 2018. He then worked as a Project manager for Diesslin Structures until his departure to start JM Burns Construction in 2021.
Justin was once told by a former employer that owners should not like their project managers by the end of a project. This caused a dilemma; he truly believes building homes that enhance people’s lives and help create memories for families is a meaningful process; one that extends beyond one-sided financial gain.
Many of his clients have become and remain his friends. We all love and share this small community; the homes we create and the lives they impact, mean everything to us here at JM Burns Construction.
Margo Burns
Margo is the “M” in JM Burns’s construction. She is the organizational backbone of our company and the driving force behind many of the color and design selections that go into the homes we build.
Although she comes from a career in nursing, her roots as the daughter of a professional artist prove invaluable in the process of assisting and curating the most cost-effective and appealing finishes to pair together in our projects.
Margo also assumes the role of Accounting Manager for JM Burns Construction, as well as Property Manager for Tailwinds Apartments, – a 64-unit multi-family complex located in Poncha Springs.
Mike Moore
Originally from California, Mike went to College in North Carolina at East Carolina University. Since graduating in 2012, Mike has spent the last 10 years as a Senior Project Manager working for several large commercial construction companies managing high-end multi-million-dollar projects.
Working closely with customers such as Pfizer, Bristol Myers Squibb, and many of the largest Universities throughout the country. After putting roots down in Chaffee County in 2023, he is passionate in helping others overcome the challenges that it takes to do the same.
Mike currently resides in Poncha Springs, CO with his wife and two young children.
